🤷🏼 AI adoption cycle in the enterprise: between fear of AI, ignorance and technology immaturity
As AI professionals, we live in a world of relentless innovation. Every day, we're greeted with groundbreaking advancements, smarter models, and tools that promise to reshape the world. It's thrilling—and it fuels our sense of urgency to push boundaries.
But when we step back, the reality is starkly different. We must not forget MOST people HAVE NEVER knowingly interacted directly with AI. Is it fear holding them back? Resistance to change is strong natural tendency—and one we must address if we want AI innovation to be embraced.
Worse still, the immaturity of AI agents adds to the skepticism. They are far from perfect and the flashy promises of carefully curated demos often fall short in the real world. When we, as technologists, see the impressive feats of the latests innovation, most users see how far of we are from magic assistants that we can delegate tasks to. (see the attached image as an example of this mixed reality: impressive and wrong at the same time!)
When hype takes over substance, decision makers are right to take the time to evaluate.
Bridging this gap will require:
- Demystifying AI
- Acknowledge fears
- Build trust (stay tuned for more to come on this)
- Simplify adoption (stay tuned for more to come on this too)
The gap between AI's potential and its real-world adoption won't close overnight. But by addressing the fear, uncertainty, and immaturity head-on, we can start to bridge the divide.
